Being a black millennial women architect in America has its challenges. Julia Lenaé Weatherspoon is an Architectural Designer at Perkins+Will and talked about the narrative of black women architects. Her engaging session shed some light into the Architecture industry being what some might call a black unicorn. Julia has experience working on corporate, community, and civic projects in the San Francisco Bay Area region as well as redevelopment projects at SFO International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. She remains curious about the built environment and believes that design should focus on the needs of the end user. Passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion within the design industry, she is interested in Social Responsibility Initiatives to better serve and educate programs for youth exposing them to the arts and science.
