Announcing Chime Asonye on Global Committee

Chime O. Asonye is a lawyer, development practitioner, and familiar face in the Glappitnova community. We are super excited to have him on the global committee.

Currently, he works as the Analysis and Advocacy Manager at Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), an independent foundation established by Chevron that works to help alleviate poverty and instability in the region through peacebuilding and market-based solutions that are community owned and implemented. At PIND, Mr. Asyone guides regional donor coordination; oversees partnerships with national & state governments; provides technical assistance to strengthen project implementation of institutions like the Niger Delta Development Commission; oversees research, investigative reporting, and investment readiness reports in Niger Delta states; promotes peace and conflict mitigation campaigns; manages online and media for development efforts; and supports regional planning roadmaps and strategy.

Before working at PIND, he served as the Senior Special Assistant on UN Sustainable Development Goals to the Governor of Abia State, Nigeria. Previously, he worked as an Associate for the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on the UN Millennium Development Goals. Chime’s work has focused on development, democratic governance, and policy in Africa with organizations like the United States House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, International Republican Institute, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, and United States Agency for International Development.

As a consistent advocate for Africans, he is a former Commissioner on the Washington, D.C. Commission on African Affairs; Executive Director of NaijaDC, a global, collaborative, socially conscious community of Diaspora leaders focused on advancing Nigeria; Founder of #Songs4Change, a weekly dose of revolutionary music for Nigeria and Africa; and Abuja Global Shaper, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. Asonye graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
