Announcing Serial Inventor Ben Gulak on Boston Committee

From Popular Science “Invention of the Year” to CBC reality series Dragon’s Den, Ben Gulak is no stranger to the Glappitnova community and we are super excited to have him on the Glappitnova global community helping with the Boston and global communities. Is he the millennial Elon Musk?

Ben Gulak has always considered himself a creator. As a kid, he would spend countless hours playing with Lego. He was never very good at following the instructions and always ended up with a pile of extra pieces at the end as a result of his “modifications” to the suggested build. For Ben, the lines between art and engineering were always blurry and he considered them both equally creative.

For his 18th birthday, his grade 12 Science Fair project was featured on the cover of Popular Science Magazine and awarded “Invention of the Year” while earning a $1m investment from the CBC reality series, Dragon’s Den. He used this publicity to launch his business, BPG Werks, that designed, developed and manufactured a new type of off-road vehicle along with some innovative robotic platforms.

His academic career started in 2008 before withdrawing from MIT to focus on his business. A decade later, he has returned back to academia to finish what he began. As an engineer, Art has played a huge role in his creative process enabling him to create vehicles that blend function and form in innovative combinations. As an artist (his paintings are in over 10 international contemporary galleries) his engineering background has allowed him to create functional works of art. It’s this blend of art and science that he believes leads to innovation.
