Fashion Tips Every Man Should Live By

Fashion tips, and insights are becoming more popular in today’s society especially with millennials males. Your appearance does speak a certain language, and with our generation being so digital savvy, it can virally reach others with a click of a button. Dex Rob, has worked with Ryan Leslie to J. Cole, to professional athletes and is here to share some fashion tips every man should live by.

“Fashion is hands down the most powerful communicator to people about their identity and where their going.”

I created my business for a couple of reasons, the first one being my passion for everything sports and fashion. It was really a no-brainer to find a way to fuse both worlds and make noise in those areas. I have been an athlete my entire life and since I was a young child, fashion has been my “thing” if you let my mother tell it.

Secondly, the sports arena has come to embrace more of lifestyle world of fashion. These guys have an extremely competitive nature and they want to compete in every aspect. Style and branding is no exception for them. If their peers are thriving in that world it pushes them to want to do the same.

“Thus creating optimal situations for my company to create opportunities.”

Being A Stylist Is More Than Putting Looks Together

One of my biggest struggles is helping people understand that styling, especially for a celebrity, is not just putting together looks. It’s a complete strategy. These guys are more than what they have on so when they are on the court or field their perception carries over. You have to make sure their look is good for the brand. When a player starts to take pride in their appearance it really opens doors from all perspectives, and I am here to assist in that capacity. My background is more in editorial styling, which is hands down more creative and less rules if any at all. Dealing more with athletes has required me to dumb a lot of my creative nature down only because you have to ‘feed’ these guys fashion in doses. If you just start throwing them in clothes, it will not be believable and it will look really forced.

In This Industry, My Siblings Keep Me Going.

I am the oldest of five boys and one girl. They are much younger than me, so it’s interesting to see what type of influence you have on them. What’s so cool about being the oldest, I would say is how they are just amazed whenever I do something new. To me it seems as though they want to just do better.

Four Fashion Tips Every Man Should Live By

  1. Layer it up. This is important because a couple layers can take you from day to night easily. You can start your day in office with a nice blazer, vest and chino. After work remove the blazer, go straight to happy hour.
  2. Fit is key. Most common style mistakes guys make is to wear clothes that are too large or too small. If you need something altered, visit your tailor.
  3. Determine what works for you. Take a decent look in the mirror. You’ll begin to understand what colors and styles look the best on you. It’s most definitely “OK” to try something new, but classics outlive trends.
  4. Old clothes can go. If it’s confirmed the piece is out of style, don’t wear it anymore. If you can’t imagine parting with it, store it. Trends sometimes run their cycles and you may once again be able to wear your favorite garments.
