Guatemalan Geniuses develop NASA Space Challenge award winning projects

Space Suitup is one of this year’s NASA Space Apps Challenge Global Nominee. Built by an award winning team of Guatemalan Engineers Jorge A. Balsells, Victor Carranza, David J. Barrientos, Freddy F. Chang, María Esther Pineda and José Rodrigo de León.

What’s it about? Space Suitup is composed of a robotic explorer and a wristband with an open source modular system that can be used on special missions on Space and Earth.

By using the wearable users get to measure environmental variables, measure their own pulse, body temperature, blood pressure etc. as well as control the robotic explorer. It can also be connected to other devices such as smartphones and network enabled home appliances.

It’s broad functionality allows for it to be used for different situations including real time space missions, measuring dangerous environmental variables in disaster zones, rescue missions, or even to help medical professionals get real-time crucial bio-information on patients with special needs.

Don’t miss the amazing demonstration of the Space Suitup this July 7th, 2016.
