Background on Awesomely Luvvie via Luvvie.org:

“Luvvie Ajayi is an award-winning writer, humorist and digital strategist who believes in using the power of technology for social change.

A ten-year blogging veteran, she is the voice behind Awesomely Luvvie, a respected entertainment and humor blog that covers everything pop culture – from TV, movies and technology to life’s random adventures. Her latest site is Awesomely Techie, which aims to teach people how to use technology to make life easier.

Luvvie is a former columnist for EBONY.com, has contributed her writing to XOJane, The Grio, Clutch Magazine and Uptown Magazine, and has been featured on Africa.com, Essence.com, AOL.com, Black Enterprise, The Root and Madame Noire.

In 2012, she made history by being one of the first brown/black bloggers to do press coverage at the Academy Awards. She is also winner of the Women’s Media Center’s 2012 Social Media Award for using her voice and humor for pop culture, gender and racial justice.

An alum of the University of Illinois, Luvvie’s background is in Marketing, Communications and New Media. As a social media strategist, she helps clients maximize their online presence by using digital tools effectively. She has presented at several conferences, including SXSW, Social Media Week (Chicago and Lagos), Blog Her, Nonprofit Technology Conference, AFTRA Broadcast Conference, Chicago Social Media Summit, FOCUS100, Social Media for Nonprofits Conference, among others. She’s also an instructor at StoryStudio Chicago, often selling out her blogging and social media classes.

Luvvie is passionate about social justice and is equally addicted to shoes. She combined these loves in 2009 when she, along with Karyn Watkins, founded The Red Pump Project. Red Pump is a nonprofit that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. As Executive Director, she leads the national executive team and network of ambassadors in 5 states. Their work has earned them a Congressional Record from the U.S. House of Representatives and Resolutions by the Illinois State Senate as well as the City Council of Chicago. Red Pump has been featured on the Huffington Post, in EBONY Magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, A&U Magazine, NBC and more.

The Black AIDS Institute recognized Luvvie as a 30 under 30 leader in HIV/AIDS, and she has served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Women’s AIDS Project, the Blogger Advisory Board of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics AIDS Foundation, and is a New Leaders Council alum. She was formerly the technology chair for the Chicago chapter.”
