What’s Catalyze Chicago?

Chicago is a city built on manufacturing and engineering ingenuity…
We made a name for ourselves as a trading powerhouse and pioneered the great railroads that shaped our fledgling nation. We reversed the flow of a river, reformed public health, built the first skyscraper, split the atom, and threw the greatest World’s Fair in history. We are a tough and resourceful breed, persevering through harsh winters, the Gangster Era and a fire that burnt the city to the ground.

Today, we believe that spirit lives on. We are designers, engineers, hackers, makers, movers and shakers. We love to build. We revel in invention and thrive on the buzz of collaboration. Unfortunately, working independently raises several challenges that inhibit us on our path to success. We need access to gear, wells of inspiration, and resources to take our prototypes to production. Most importantly, we need a place to call home.

CATALYZE Chicago is our answer. Our West Loop studio is the first of its kind in the city. We provide shared office and workspace, access to tools, and the broad expertise of a uniquely talented community. As a not-for-profit entity and users of our own space, we are committed to 100% reinvestment to provide our members the best possible resources we can. We are also avid supporters of the arts and sciences, dedicated to sharing the wonders of design and engineering with local students, colleges and museum communities.
